I recently bought a subaru from carmax and was considering a couple of mid 2010's bmws (and 328xi and 528xi). I quickly crossed them off my list when maxcare came in at $5-6k. Used bmws seem to have very high cost maxcare plans at carmax. Honestly roughly 10 to 15 percent of the value of the car for 100k 5 years. That is with my volt case anyway.
It's a pretty comprehensive plan. At over 100k miles the risk of something happening is a lot higher, but Maxcare is optional in order to help people stay in their budget. FYI, the plan can be paid separately in one lump sum with a credit card or anything else if you didn't want to add to your monthly payment. 2.
