The Royal Playa del Carmen is a beautiful hotel but the town of Playa del Carmen is much less lively than that of Cancun. I have stayed at both. Cancun is more of a "city" atmosphere and you don't get much of a feel of what Mexico is. Playa del Carmen is much calmer and tends to be less people. The beaches there are just as beautiful. I don't know of a TUI lounge, but there is a VIP lounge in Terminal 2 -- open daily from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. After security, it's located behind the escalators.
