Have a J frame 5 shot with 3 inch barrel that I am trying to identify when it was built. With cylinder swung out the yoke is stamped 36-1. The hammer main spring is coil type with center rod and ball on lower end instead of leaf spring. RH side plate has only three screws. Serial number on bottom of frame is only three digit, 9XXJ1.

I have a 4 digit gun, (29XX), that the front edge of the wood stocks have the slightest finger groove in them. It looks factory, but have never seen another like it.
