Anything that you need for a quest seems to be unsellable. At least, with certain items I've tried to sell that were for quests, it's been that way for me. I couldn't sell them, and if they were an equipable item like the Band of Braccus that a party member was using, they returned to my main character after I dismissed that party member. #1.
