For a brief time in 1930, US 41 was rerouted along the Ohio River, crossing via a ferry directly into Henderson, Kentucky. By 1932, it was back to the old route, due south of Evansville…and still using the ferry. Bridge construction was on the minds of the people on both sides of the river. It took a while…but it happened.
