Jan 21, 2010 · The rollers are not supposed to turn in twine balers. They are used because they are harder than the cast needle and act only as guide and wear surface. Now when they get a little worn, twine will be caught between the sides of the roller and needle and cause you lots of stress!

I think the 336-346s came out in about 1970, so that baler is 40-50 yrs old.What you need to do is clean most of the hay out of the baler, so that you can turn it over by hand. Then with the tension off, trip the knotters and slowly turn it and watch what it does. This should show you where the problem lies. Also verify that all of the hay dogs are moving freely.
