Jeep jk running hot.

2019 Wrangler JL unlimited this is my first Jeep Ok the JL seems to run really hot I mean putting your hand on the hood after a few miles it is really uncomfortable. The gauge says over 200 degrees. I have 8700 miles on this JL. The JL has always seemed to warmup in less than a 1/2 mile which seems awfully quick.I own a 2016 Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon. I have a 4inch lift on 35x17 wheels. for about a year my engine has been running really hot. I recently had my head gaskets replaced along with my thermostat my radiator, my hoses, my water pump, my temp sensor, my timing belt,my coils and injectors. My last wheeling trip I started smelling oil, after a few hours I had smoke coming up through my hood vents. Looks like the seals between the heat exchanger and main body. I recently got to 240 (with a couple seconds at 244) while towing a heavy trailer uphill on the interstate in 89F weather - 4000 rpm in 3rd at 55 mph. So yeah, 250 isn’t normal.So we know the 2012+ JKs certainly CAN run cooler if they need to. Yet they were designed to run at the temps they run. Must have been a reason. I was just reading in a car magazine that some new car, forget which one, actually has a split cooling system. The heads run at 195 degrees and the block runs at 220 degrees.

It is the optimal temperature for the car. He did some research and found that drilling a 1/8" hole in thermostat will allow Jeep to run cooler. Decided to drill hole. The Jeep is still running hot. About 220. Took the JK back to the dealer.
