I recently came across this Rivian R1T with a couple of mountain bikes mounted out back and thought it would be great to see what everyone's setup is like. Using Yakima high speed fork mounts on Rivian cross bars. Works great. This is where an official RIVIAN branded tailgate pad could really shine. It could use a piece of molded foam that accounts for this contour and perhaps even a plastic piece (maybe kydex?) over the foam (and behind the nylon cover of the pad) so pressure is evenly distributed to the tailgate rather than creating a pressure point on the body line.
Anyone else worried about the thickness of the padding. Looks pretty thin but it’s hard to tell from the photos. I have a raceface pad that works really well, is reallly well padded, and holds 5 bikes.
