The general background: We were 7 ranging from my kids (18 & 20) to my Mother (80's) and were in St John from 7/8-7/15. We stayed at Villa Lantano in Upper Peter's Bay. We rented 2 jeeps from Courtesy. One of us got the backup camera and one did not. Tip: get a backup camera if it's your first time.
Starfish is the most consistent option for lobster on St. John. Yes to Calabash for local fish as well as great Mediterranean dips. Dave’s Coral Bay Fresh Market has fresh fish that he vacuum packs. No fish market for now. The government has discussed a fish house in Cruz Bay across from the post office. Tortola vs. St. John, USVI. My husband and I are having a hard time deciding between staying on Tortola or St. John's ( USVI) for our vacation. We plan on spending about a week in May (to avoid hurricane season and hopefully some out-of-school crowds). Both islands look beautiful and I know the ferries can take us to both USVI and BVI.

They are a hot commodity and usually run out fast. If you buy they will probably cost you at least $50 per chair. You will catch bvi signal (not at&t) on some of the north shore beaches so you may want to turn off international roaming unless you have an international plan.

Easiest and quickest is to get either a rapid antigen test or rapid diagnostic test at either Walgreens or CVS. Both are acceptable and quicker than a PCR test (and only an easy nasal swab, not a brain probe LOL). We've done both tests that I suggested for our last two Dec. trips (before vaccinations were accepted). Edited: 1 year ago.

Save. Although the no-see-ums are unpredictable, the mosquitoes are easier to avoid. In general, February and March and early April are reliably the driest months, and the most mosquito free. Location has a lot to do with no-see-um exposure.September is also my favorite, closely followed by October. November is a little cooler and less humid and a little more crowded but more places are open including my favorite - Skinny Legs. 5. Re: St John in November.
