2006 Honda Shadow Aero 750 Around the first of each month, I add 4 ozs SeaFoam to full (3.7 gal) tank of 87 octane gas. Been doing this for several years. Seems to keep carb clean. Bike has 20K miles. I ride almost daily, year round in central Florida and consistently get 62 mpg.

Spirit's have larger gas tanks, but get less mpg. So, miles per tank is similar. I have an 1100 spirit and can go 136 miles before i have to hit reserve. I get better mileage on the highway. Im having the exact same problem. 89-91' Shadow 600 Gas leaking out the float vent ONLY when the engine is running. You could just pour fresh gas into a funnel into the big supply hose and let it run out the bottom hose that goes to the fuel valve. 1 Answer. 1. Drain the gasoline. 2. Remove the carb bowl (s) and turn on the petcock to drain the fuel in the lines. 3. Clean out the carb bowl (s) and replace. 4. Refill with gasoline, add 1 oz of Seafoam fuel system cleaner (I'm not a sponsor, I just haven't found anything better) to each gallon of gas.

Any tank other than OEM is going to require modifications that range from welding new tabs on to widening the tunnel or even more, I would suggest replacing it with an OEM tank if you don’t want to be bothered with fitting/welding/spacing a different tank properly. What you call a "breather" is a vent for the gas tank. As you take fuel out, there must be a way for air to get in, or very quickly a vacuum forms inside the tank and no more gas comes out.
