I've really only found 1 build that's good for alchemist, which is Quick Bomber, Sticky Bomb, Calculated Splash & Expanded Splash. With that combo, they can outdamage even a Fighter (on average, assuming persistent lasts 4 rounds) on the first round of combat.

The problem with that line of thinking is that it assumes attack bonus and single turn damage are the end-all-be-all of offensive combat. The -1 or -2 the alchemist receives at certain levels is to make up for the increadible amount of DOT they can do combined with the splash feats which allow alchemists to deal 4-9 damage to every creature effected by the bomb’s splash, even on a failed ...
Lets see what an Alchemical Familiar changes: At level 1 they take you from 5 to 6 Reagents and can Interact with Elixers to give them to other people. Already you can load up the familiar and use a single action to deliver elixers at range or two elixers to a single person. You are still probably playing on the back foot, but less so.
