The 30 series was simply designed as combat guns and intended for combat loads. With those, the G30 was uber reliable. To make a long story short, the G30 quickly became my favorite Glock. My test sample never went back—I sent a check to Glock and bought the darn thing. It was to be the first of a series of compact Glocks in .45 ACP.

Bill, a few weeks ago I hit a gun show looking for a 30 Gen 3 and ended up with a used 30SF Gen 3. A friend from work has a 30S. We went to the range and we each shot two magazines from both the 30SF and 30S and I felt the recoil with Winchester White Box range ammo was a little more noticeable in the 30S I was a bit surprised 3 oz. was really much if any difference.

The 30s was the 30sf frame with 36 slide. The 30sf had a slightly smaller grip size, front to rear, then the 30 to help folks with smaller hands, like me, but that was before the gen4 came out. I read somewhere that the 30 Gen4 had the sf frame. If that's correct then that would make the 30 Gen4 exactly the same pistol as the 30sf.
