It appears to have been refinished but not by S&W at some point. A good cleaning and treatment for any rusting and it should make a good shooter. The full serial number is found on the butt of the grip frame. The Model 58 frame isn't grooved for a barrel rib and is also lower than the barrel rib on a target sighted barrel. Use CCI Standard Velocity. You can shoot a box or 2 of Mini Mags, but they're a bit harder on the gun than Standard Velocity.
