I see Hertz recommended a bit. Friends tell me they use an "SXM or Bust" card when on the island and receive discounts at different restaurants and shops. I'm not seeing anything helpful when I google that or discounts for St Maarten. Are there any free, valid cards/clubs we should be aware of for discounts on dining/shopping? All incomming calls to SXM from US to a local rental cell phone are free to the receiver. Verizon only works on the Durtch side and runs around 1.29 a min. If you are using WIFI at a resort your charges include the access with out any need of phone charges.SXM is a duty free port, so customs is rarely an issue (unlike AXA). I am sure they do random checks and if they have reason to suspect drugs or weapons, but they don't really care if you bring in a pair of NIkes for a friend on the island. That's all great but we need to check out of our apartment at 10:00am on departure day and the flight is not until 17:00 from SXM. In 2022 the airport was still in the throes of redevelopment work so does anybody know if there is a left luggage facility at sxm or even if the business lounge is open? Any help is much appreciated. Baggage claim has been slow but it's a good time to. shift to island time.
