AE2 has channels that limits the amount of devices per cable, RS does not. AE2 has P2P tunnels for everything (energy, items, etc). For me setting these up are half the fun. RS storage cells can store whatever items up to its capacity, AE2 cells are limited by capacity and number of unique items in the cell.

Refined Storage is great for basic and simple builds, though struggles with aesthetics. AE2 is much better, though more complicated regarding channels.
