Just north of Buenos Aires' centre there's a place called Tigre which is really calm, tranquile and nice. The Rio de la Plata runs through it and you can go on boats in the river and see the little town. You can catch a train from Retiro station that takes you directly to Tigre in an hour or so. The rates we got for our two exchanges were AR$330 and $330 for every GBP. You do need to have your passport to collect at WU though. This was in excess slightly of what rate shown for the blue dollar on bluedollar.net (not sure how accurate that is but seen a few recommend checking there before going to exchange).
